Kerala 2011 - Waterways and temples of Kerala and Tamil Nadu
Kerala waterways, tea and spice plantations, Chinese fishing nets. Beautiful Hill station. The Dravidian Hindu Temples, and much more.

Tour | Itinerary | Price
This is the 5th tour I have taken to Kerala. This itinerary includes - staying in an old tea plantation house - one of the most scenic hill stations in India - the wonderful temple complex at Maduri, besides all the other many attractions. This will be the itinerary, and I consider it to be the very best itinerary for Kerala.

All the journey's are particularly scenic, either by water, or on land. The back-waters are very tranquil and relaxed, and the several journey's to our various destinations all have their own special scenery. On this trip, the travel is one of the high points of the holiday. Mostly one travels just to reach the next destination, but on this tour the travel is very much part of the enjoyment.

We start our tour by staying in the old British Residency and visit a fishing community with its boat building and rope making. And then from the waterways with the Chinese fishing nets, we then move up through rubber and spice plantations, to stay in a wild life reserve. From there we travel to Kodaikanal, a beautiful journey taking us through wonderful scenery where you will see Kapok tress and many different flowers. Travelling on to Maduri we again pass through beautiful scenery. Maduri with its wonderful temples will speak for itself.

We drop back to Munnar where we stay in a planters house in the middle of the tea gardens. The hilly undulating landscape appears to be a massive topiaried work of art.

Then Cochin with its Dutch buildings, and again the Chinese fishing nets to work from, and the Kathakali dancers The light is clear and sharp and warm, like good English summer weather.

This is a holiday where you can draw and paint or just take in the wonderful scenery or study the flora and fauna. We will have informative guides on the plants. Its also excellent to be away from the UK in February/ March!
