This is a tour centred round a remote and very special fair. Wonderful textiles and visually superb locations for painters.
Tour of 16 days excursion date of departure 16th September returning 6th October with the possibility of a 6 day extension.
We
are traveling at the end of the monsoon. the days should be fresh and warm.
We may experience some humidity and a few rains. I found it very pleasant
weather.
The highlight of the tour is the remote fair in Gujarat. We will
be extremely privileged to see this fair. It is unknown to tourists. It is
rustic India working for itself. For the first time in over 25 years i saw
once again all the people wearing there true cultural dress. Each to its own
community and all richly embroidered.
To visit this Fair we will be staying
on safari. We will have some hands on workshops with the local craftsmen &
women. Gujarat and Rajasthan are the most important states for hand made
textiles.
We start in Kacchh and gradually move through to Rajasthan. Each
location offers the painters superb subjects. It is an excellent mixture.
